If you are dreaming of a ski wedding or mountain wedding location in Austria, then the state of Tirol (or Tyrol) in the Austrian alps could be the perfect place for you. The scenery is breathtaking, the people are friendly, and the villages are charming.
Here are three of my favourite mountain wedding locations that in my opinion offer everything for the perfect wedding. Not only do they offer you breathtaking scenery, but they are all easily accessible for your wedding guests, and can hold your reception as well.
The ski resort of Mayrhofen is just an hour from Innsbruck and has loads to offer for both skiers and non-skiers. It offers a location that will take your breath away (it’s also licensed for civil ceremonies with the local Standesamt) so you can say yes to each other with the stunning Zillertal valley in the background.
Getting to it is easy with the Ahornbahn cable car, which runs from 8am until 5pm in summer and winter, with the possibility of booking a late car at 9pm to take your guests back down after dinner and dancing.
Only 45 minutes drive from Innsbruck, also in the Ziller Valley is the town of Kaltenbach. The stylish Kristallhütte is perched on the mountain at 2147 meters above sea level in the popular ski area of Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach. It offers a unique location and also has gorgeous rooms for an overnight stay. In the winter it is only accessible by ski/snowboard (the lift station can transport your luggage) but in the summer it is possible to drive up to it via the “Zillertaler Hohenstrasse”.
One and a half hours from Innsbruck, Obergurgl is the highest parish in Austria. In winter it’s a bustling ski resort and in summer a hikers paradise. The traditional and rustic Hohe Mut Alm gives you that authentic Austrian mountain hut feel with all the convenience of being served by a cable car.
