Postcards from Albi

Today I’d like to give you a tour of the gorgeous French town of Albi.

Being a destination wedding photographer can be hard work. Yes, travelling is wonderful, but sometimes it involves long days and very early starts. But not matter what, I love seeing new places, so I will always make time to spend at least a few hours exploring somewhere new.

In August I visited somewhere I’d never been before. Flying in to Toulouse in the south of France, I picked up my trusty hire car (I did grin with glee when I saw what it was) and I set out to explore the countryside.

My destination was the town of Albi, a small commune northeast of Toulouse.

This medieval town drew me inside it’s ever narrowing streets lined with red bricked walls. Every turn, back and forth seemed to lead me to the most central point, to the enormous fortified cathedral and palace.

Inside the cathedral, there was barely a stone left un-decorated with murals covering almost every wall and ceiling.

In every little street, I found small details that hinted back to past times and the whole day seemed like a treasure hunt without a map.
