Postcards from Stockholm

I don’t know why I have such a fascination for Scandinavian countries. Even before I’d ever visited there was something about them that just interested me. So when the opportunity came about to visit Europe’s premier wedding photography conference Way Up North in Stockholm, I had to say yes.

I arrived on Monday evening and although my brain was pretty frazzled from a day of travelling, and despite the rain, I headed out into the city to have a little look around. I walked straight to the area called Gamla stan, Stockholm’s Old Town where I met up with the lovely Maureen Du Preez who I know from an online Facebook community of photographers, and whose work I adore, and we wandered the streets taking pictures and searching for a vegan and gluten-free option for dinner. Even though I’m more of a nature lover than a city girl, as the rain continued to fall, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the old charm of the cobbled streets glistening in the rain.

The next couple of days were spent getting inspired by some of the world’s top photographers and coaches, but once everyone from the conference had said their goodbyes, I had another couple of days in the city to explore.

I also managed to catch up with one of my 2018 couples and we took a little walk around together and they gave me their best insider tips for things that I shouldn’t miss before I leave. So for my final morning, I set out to see Stockholm from the water and visit the Hallwyl Museum thanks to Emily and Johan’s great advice, and only wish I had had an extra few days to see a bit more.
