It’s wonderful to see that so many people’s New Year’s resolutions for 2019 are to be more conscious of their choices and try to reduce their day-to-day impact on the environment. If you’re planning a wedding, there are also things you can do to help reduce the environmental impact of your wedding. If everyone made one small change, the impact could be great.
5 Ways To Reduce The Environmental Impact Of Your Wedding
The Guest List
Reducing your guest list can make a big difference. Less people means less everything, including waste (and it saves you money in your budget). You can also encourage your guests to car share, take public transport or organise a coach to transport everyone all together.
Source as much as you can locally. If you want flowers, look at locally grown, in-season flowers and greenery and opt for a locally produced organic food. Hiring local vendors also reduces yours and their carbon footprint as there will be less travel involved.
Go Vegetarian or Vegan
According to this article in The Guardian, avoiding meat and dairy is the “single biggest way” to reduce your environmental impact, so why not consider vegetarian or vegan food for your wedding meal.
Oh So Vintage
Discourage your guests from buying new outfits and consider wearing suits that you already own, jazzing them up with matching ties or waistcoats. For wedding dresses, consider a pre-loved, vintage or up-cycled dress like these stunning ones from Reclamation.

Eco Conscious Honeymoon
Consider sustainable tourism options and eco hotels for your honeymoon. We absolutely loved staying at the Eco Camp in Torres Del Paine in Patagonia, which is 100% sustainable and set in the most incredible surroundings.
