Trash The Dresses – A Ski & Snowboard After-Wedding Shoot In Tyrol

Jamie & Liz’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful. They got married surrounded by books in a beautiful historic library in the Bavarian Alps (you can find their wedding blog post here), with their closest family and friends there to witness their vows to one another. And while they were planning their winter wedding in the Alps, they both talked about how much they would love to have some fun in the snow and take some pictures of them on the slopes in their wedding dresses. So after their intimate ceremony in Germany, Jamie & Liz headed to the Austrian Alps for their honeymoon in Tyrol where they had they got to put on their wedding dresses one more time for a ski & snowboard after-wedding shoot.

These Badass Skiing & Snowboarding Brides Trash Their Dresses In Style

Jamie & Liz decided to spend their honeymoon in the heart of the Austrian Alps, in Innsbruck. This area of Tyrol is rich in history and culture as well as having a number of amazing ski resorts within a short drive.

On my suggestion, we headed to one of my favourite ski resorts in Tyrol. Schlick 2000 in the Stubai Valley. With the stunning Kalkkogel mountains as the backdrop, Schlick is one of the most picturesque resorts. And because it’s quite small, it’s usually pretty quiet compared to some of the more well-known resorts in Tyrol.

Not only was this their first ski day as a married couple, but it was the first day of their 2020 winter season. Although both of them were a little apprehensive about their first day back on skis, they were back in the groove in no time, and shredding up the slopes like two total badasses in wedding dresses!

How To Ski or Snowboard In A Wedding Dress

If you’re thinking of skiing or snowboarding in your wedding dress, either on your wedding day or for an after-wedding shoot, here are a few tips to make it happen:

1. Having a dress that bustles and can be kept away from your heel and toe edge is really useful if you don’t want to hold it up the whole time.

2. Look for something that is loose-fitting from below the waist so that you can get your feet apart to strap into your board.

3. Get some winter accessories to keep you warm, such as a new beanie and gloves

4. Buy some skin-tone fleece leggings for underneath your dress

5. Research the slopes before the day (or take a photographer with you who knows the slopes).
