Have you ever been somewhere that took your breath away. Somewhere you always vowed you’d return to? When Y & J first traveled to the Dolomites for a climbing trip a couple of years ago, they fell in love with the dramatic scenery of the Italian Alps. So when they got engaged, they wanted to return to the place where they’d had one of their most incredible adventures for their intimate wedding in the Dolomites.
Petya & Tihomir traveled all the way from Bulgaria to the Dolomites for their elopement. Their intimate first look at the boathouse at Lago di Braies was just the start of their incredible day of adventure. Afterwards they headed up in to the mountains for their Tre Cime elopement ceremony.
There is only one way to describe Adam & Michelle’s hiking elopement in the Dolomites. EPIC. They hiked for 10 days across the Italian Alps and on the final day of their adventure they eloped. The trip was full of unexpected challenges, stunning scenery and unforgettable moments. Here’s just a small taster of their incredible adventure.
An engagement adventure session in the Italian Dolomites. When Rena & Thomas’ plans had to be changed at the last minute, we came up with this pretty epic plan B with mountain lakes and alpine meadows.
Laurel & Dustin didn’t want a traditional wedding. Their plan was to get married at the courthouse in their home state then take an amazing trip to Europe to celebrate. They decided to take their wedding photos during their trip and decided the stunning Lake Braies in the Dolomites would be the perfect spot. Keeping the un-traditional vibes, Laurel opted to wear a stunning gold wedding gown, which added a touch of glamour to their wild and rustic location in the Italian Alps.
Erika & Nathan’s legal wedding ceremony took place over Skype (who else had no idea that was actually a thing?!) whilst Nathan was serving overseas in the military. Since these two didn’t get to spend their wedding day on the same continent as one another, they wanted to celebrate their marriage by travelling together to somewhere stunningly beautiful and going on an adventure together. And that somewhere that they chose was Lago di Braies in the Dolomites region of the Italian Alps.
Elizabeth & Matt’s Cliffs of Moher elopement was a day of wild weather, but nothing was going to stop them having the best day of their lives. They embraced the unforgiving weather and had the most heart-warming ceremony on the top of the Cliffs of Moher before warming up with dinner and drinks in the most Irish way – a pint of Guiness in the local pub!
Gerry-Rae and Nick love the beautiful Austrian town of Zell am See. So they decided to make it the location for the spring skiing wedding in the Alps. Their closest family and friends travelled out to Austria, many of them seeing the mountains for the very first time, and witnessed these two tying the knot in Zell Am See’s Rathaus. After their ceremony, they hit the slopes for a few laps of the pistes before continuing celebrations in the AreitLounge.
Paul & Caireen love the snow and the mountains, so they decided to get married on the top of a mountain in Austria. Their ceremony was held inside the White Lounge Igloo Village in Mayrhofen, and afterwards they took to the ski slopes to celebrate.
Abby & Jeff met on the ski hill back home in the USA where Abby was teaching skiing and Jeff was race coaching. So skiing is a huge part of their lives and their love story. This winter they decided to plan the ultimate ski trip to Europe. They visited three countries, attended 4 world cup alpine skiing events AND they got married in one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, Kitzbühel. Unfortunately I was already booked for their wedding day, but Abby really wanted to have pictures of them skiing in their wedding clothes, so they decided to book an adventure session with me for a trash the dress skiing wedding shoot a few days after the wedding.
Inge & Martijn’s snowboard wedding in Zell Am See Austria was a day filled with love and so much laughter. They celebrated their marriage by going snowboarding with their friends and families on the slopes of Zell Am See, then held the craziest apres-ski party in the Schmiedhof Alm mountain restaurant.
It’s that time of year. Out with the old and getting ready for the new. That means time for another yearly round-up post celebrating the year gone by. 2018 – A Year In Review I
Alice & Dom’s wedding at Berggasthaus Grander Schupf was one of my favourite weddings of 2018. These two were an absolute ball to spend the day with and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in one day. Even looking back over the pictures as I put together this blog post, I can’t help but smile. You’ll see what I mean when you look at the pictures too. I think these two definitely win the award for the happiest couple of 2018!
A autumnal pre-wedding shoot hiking around the stunning waterfall route in Hintertux with Sarah & Kai.
This summer one of my goals was to start shooting more “adventure sessions.” A big part of my passion for photography is celebrating authenticity and encouraging couples to look past the idea of a overly styled couple shoot and celebrate the things that they really love. For Peter & Ines, one of their favourite things to do is to go for long walks with their beautiful Australian sheepdog Lucy, so that’s exactly what we did for their adventure session in Igls.
