Weekend Adventures – A Lazy Sunday Hike In Innsbruck

Even with my busy wedding schedule, Menno and I made the promise to try and spend as much time as possible this summer outside and in the mountains. Even when we’re tired or the weather isn’t looking like it’s on our side, we try to get outside even just for a few hours.

A Lazy Sunday Hike In Innsbruck

A few weekends ago the weather forecast was looking quite stormy, so we decided it wasn’t wise to venture too far away from civilisation. Our local mountain the Patscherkofel is just a few minutes down the road, so we decided to take the ski lift up to the top station and do the short summit hike circuit. The weather was nice and cool which (was great for me as I’m not great when it comes to hiking in the summer heat thanks to my pale English skin) and the pink alpenrose flowers were in full bloom.

If you’re thinking about doing a hike in Innsbruck, this is a super easy one but really pretty. The whole hike only took us around 2 hours (which included a beer and cake stop at the hut on the summit) and with an altitude gain of 290 meters, it’s really easy going.

This pretty hike will be one fo the destinations I’ll be offering for adventure sessions over the summer months. Being an short and easy hike it’s suitable for all levels of hiking and fitness plus the views are stunning. And for even more mountain adventure epicness, on Thursday evenings through the summer the lift is going run until 23:00 meaning it’s going to be possible to get some stunning golden sunset pictures as well as the mountain views! Winner!
